Australian connected vehicle technology company Directed Technologies has acquired Bangkok-based telematics provider GPS2GO, expanding its operational footprint in Thailand and advancing its broader ASEAN growth strategy through the addition of an established customer and partner network, a government-approved technology offering and an experienced local team.
The acquisition, reported by IT Brief, strengthens Directed's existing Thailand base, where it already operates customer support, analytics and sales functions.
Thailand is a significant market for automotive and transport groups due to its role as a major manufacturing hub for trucks, passenger vehicles and commercial utility vehicles. Many of Directed's existing customers already operate manufacturing facilities there, increasing demand for local support across both original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket operations.
Steve Siolis, CEO of Directed Technologies, said: "This is not just about expanding into Southeast Asia, it's about strengthening our ability to support customers with on-the-ground capability in one of the region's most important automotive markets."
Siolis added: "Through GPS2GO, we are combining deep local expertise with our global platform to deliver connected vehicle solutions for OEMs and enterprise customers operating across the region."
The acquisition advances the rollout of Directed's e.things ecosystem in Southeast Asia, a unified platform combining telematics, Internet of Things hardware, connectivity and cloud-based data tools across original equipment manufacturer programmes, fleet operations and a broader applications environment.
Hataichanok Leerahathon will serve as General Manager of GPS2GO while continuing as Country Manager of Directed Technologies Thailand, providing operational continuity for customers and partners throughout the integration.
Leerahathon said: "By combining our in-market knowledge with Directed Technologies' global platform, we are well positioned to deliver solutions tailored to local requirements while maintaining a strong global foundation."
Directed's technology is currently deployed across more than 5,000 fleets globally, supporting automotive manufacturers and transport operators across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
