IOI Corporation Berhad, a leading Malaysian agribusiness, has achieved a major milestone in its digital transformation journey by deploying estate-wide high-speed connectivity across more than 100 plantations in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
Delivered in partnership with CelcomDigi Berhad, the initiative establishes a robust digital foundation designed to modernise plantation operations, scale automation, and enhance operational visibility across estates and mills.
The deployment includes over 100 4G and 4G LTE network sites alongside dedicated Direct Internet Access (DIA) for estate offices. This connectivity enables the integration of intelligent systems across plantation operations, supporting automation in mill processes, mobile workforce applications, IoT-driven asset and fleet management, and future data-led applications crucial for sustainable plantation management.
IOI’s Plantation Director, NB Sudhakaran, explained that the company aims to transform its plantations into integrated, connected operations capable of competing on productivity and sustainability. He added that partnering with CelcomDigi provides the network capabilities and support needed to scale automation, implement smart fleet and asset management, and enhance data-driven decision-making.
CelcomDigi’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Ts. Afizulazha Abdullah, noted that consistent, estate-wide connectivity helps plantation businesses improve operational efficiency and accelerate digital adoption.
He added that IOI now has the digital foundation to expand intelligent systems and automation across its plantations and mills, supporting growth, sustainability, and surrounding communities.
The initiative also enhances digital inclusion for surrounding rural communities, improving access to education, healthcare, and essential digital services, and supporting Malaysia’s broader digital economy.
