Mastercard has named Jason Crasto as its new Country Manager for the Philippines, reinforcing its commitment to drive the country’s digital transformation through secure and inclusive payments innovation.
Crasto, who joined Mastercard in 2020, brings over 20 years of experience in the payments industry, including leadership roles across global payment networks, banks, and digital platforms. His appointment comes as digital transactions in the Philippines surge, with more than 57% of retail payments processed electronically in 2024, according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
In his new role, Crasto will oversee Mastercard’s business operations and strategic initiatives in the Philippines. He will also lead collaborations with public and private sector partners to expand smart payment infrastructure and strengthen financial inclusion. Safdar Khan, Division President for Southeast Asia, said Crasto’s leadership will support Mastercard’s mission to deepen its partnerships and foster innovation in the fast-evolving digital economy.
Crasto expressed optimism about the country’s digital potential, highlighting plans to enhance payment accessibility for consumers and businesses. “I look forward to working with our partners to deliver innovative solutions that empower Filipinos and help build a more connected and secure digital future,” he said.
With over two decades of regional experience, Crasto is expected to accelerate Mastercard’s strategic priorities in digital payments, cybersecurity, and sustainable growth. His expertise in scaling digital ecosystems across South Asia will help strengthen the company’s presence in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital markets.
Mastercard continues to play a leading role in digital payments development across 200 countries, offering technology solutions that enable secure and seamless transactions. Crasto’s appointment marks a key step in aligning Mastercard’s global digital transformation agenda with local market priorities in the Philippines.
