Malaysian hospitality technology company Vendfun has launched the Nano-S, its fifth-generation self check-in kiosk, targeting independent, boutique and lower-rated hotels that require a compact, all-in-one self-service solution combining a receipt printer, passport and ID scanner, payment terminal and card dispenser in a single detachable unit.
The product, reported by CMO Tech Asia, represents Vendfun's smallest hardware footprint to date and is designed for hotel lobbies where counter space is limited.
The payment terminal supports deposit pre-authorisation, enabling hotels to collect security deposits during check-in without manual staff involvement. Hotels can also operate the kiosk without printed receipts, with e-receipts sent to guests by email, reducing operational costs and paper use.
Benny Wee, CEO of Vendfun, said: "The Nano-S represents everything we believe self-service hospitality technology should be compact, intuitive, and genuinely useful to both guests and operators. By pairing the compact kiosk with a built-in loyalty engine, we're giving hoteliers a way to modernise check-in and seamlessly build guest relationships at the same time, without added cost or complexity."
Each Nano-S unit includes Vendfun's membership system, automatically enrolling guests in the hotel's loyalty programme during check-in, with rewards structured around one complimentary night after 10 nights stayed within a year. The built-in loyalty engine is designed to give smaller operators access to guest relationship tools typically associated with larger hotel chains and more extensive automation budgets.
Vendfun's in-house passport and ID card scanner is built to read identity documents from multiple countries, supported by the company's own document learning system that improves recognition accuracy over time. An HD camera is available as an optional add-on for facial verification and video concierge use, though it is included as standard in Singapore due to requirements under the country's E-Visitor Authentication Ready programme.
Wee said: "The Nano-S has our smallest footprint yet, so it fits neatly onto even a compact countertop. That matters in markets like Singapore, where lobby space comes at a premium."
Vendfun is recognised as an EVA-Ready vendor under the Singapore Tourism Board's E-Visitor Authentication Ready Programme, enabling the Nano-S to be used for digital check-in processes that automatically verify the stay validity of international visitors. The company has deployed more than 150 kiosks across 12 Malaysian states and operates across Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and the United States since entering the hospitality sector in 2020.
